Maybe you're not a writer or don't want to go it alone. Even with a great idea, turning your concepts into compelling literature is no easy feat. That's where ghost-writing comes in: its your ideas, and your plan, executed by a ghost, a mystery writer who comes in, brings your concepts together with words, professionally delivers your vision on a silver platter, and bequeaths it to you for your own uses, before disappearing back into the shadows of anonymity. Ghost-writing can involve as little and as much collaboration as you like, and can be combined with other services. Ghostwriting is suitable for those who have only got a handful of loose ideas they'd like developed right through to those with a complete draft and a clear goal of what the draft requires. If you think ghost-writing is what you're after, please get in touch.

Substantive editing, also known as developmental editing, focuses on the work as a whole, developing, organising and structuring content, and cultivating ideas and concepts. I take your goals, requirements and the scope of the work into consideration to advise you how to best achieve your aims from a writing and editorial perspective. Guidance may be offered on reworking or rewriting parts of the text, suggesting the inclusion of additional material and/or the exclusion of certain sections. Substantive editing always precedes copy-editing, formatting and proofreading.
Also know as line-editing, content editing, or sub-editing, copy-editing focuses on correcting errors and inconsistencies in grammar, punctuation, spelling, usage, phrasing, facts and more. Copy-editing may be light, medium or heavy depending on what the material requires. Heavy copy-editing may involve line-by-line rewriting of sentences to improve coherency and readability, and is often combined with Substantive Editing to improve overall content organisation and structure. Copy editors may also undertake research in order to confirm facts and sources, and compile references.
The last stage of editing before publication. Proofreading focuses on correcting errors and inconsistencies in spelling, punctuation, grammar, usage, formatting and spacing based on the style guidelines set down by the copy-editor. Mechanical and typographical errors inadvertently introduced during the typesetting, layout and formatting stages are addressed at this stage. Highly recommended for work otherwise ready for publication or submission.
